About Macon Rising Imagery
The Ideas behind Macon Rising’s Logos and marks
The Speech Bubble Logo
The speech bubble. Macon Rising is about building a collective voice and conversation, literally built into the symbol. Our goal is to bring all Maconites into community, bold and unafraid.
The Dandelion Mark
If the wordmark is what Macon Rising says, the dandelion is what Macon Rising does. Soft, round, and spreading on its own, dandelions are weeds growing in sidewalk cracks and neglected lots, wherever the wind happens to drop it, and no one plants it on purpose. That's the point: real growth in this city hasn't come from the top down. It comes from people rooting where they are and letting the wind carry the rest.
[MAcon Rising Exists] Because we love our neighbors, we love democracy, and we want to preserve the beauty of this nation for our children and the generations to come.

about our mark from our Founders
Lindsey Mote on the symbolism and imagery in the Macon Rising brand. July 8th, 2025
Macon is a great place to be. The people here are warm and generous, our surroundings are beautiful, and the energy for growth and change is palpable. Macon has a beautiful legacy of music, architecture, and literature, and there is space for honoring that past while also bringing its darker chapters into the light. Because we can’t go backward. And the good news is there IS energy in this city to keep pushing forward. This is your Macon. This is our Macon. We should be proud of it.
We’re proud to work with all of you to tell that story, because it’s a good one.
When we first envisioned this coalition, we knew it needed to feel grounded in purpose and movement. That’s why we began with the image of a dandelion.
At first glance, it’s simple, even delicate. But in truth, it’s resilient. It’s a weed. It grows anywhere. It spreads with the wind. And there is a lot of beauty to be found in common things, beauty and strength that can be too easily overlooked. We need that intertwining, that leaning on one another, that quiet beauty alongside stubborn persistence. Dandelions have exceptional medicinal properties: anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, immune-supporting, used by healers across cultures for generations. They are useful and they are tough.
Most importantly, the dandelion carries deep historical ties to the fight for women’s suffrage, where it served as a quiet but powerful symbol of resistance and persistence. We embraced that symbolism to reflect who we are: a grassroots movement fueled by bold ideas, unstoppable people, and the belief that change takes root when we come together.
That’s how we show up on social media, too. Our goal is to build more than an audience; we’re building a community. Our content isn’t just broadcasting; it’s connecting. We educate, breaking down issues with clarity and honesty. We engage, inviting conversation, asking questions, amplifying the voices of our coalition. And we energize, showcasing momentum through stories, action alerts, and celebrations of progress. Visually, our content reflects the brand: bold but organic, grounded in place but reaching outward. Just like that dandelion.
You’ll continue to see short-form video, local storytelling, graphics, and real faces doing real work. And joy, so much joy. Because that’s who we are. You can help us by spreading those seeds: resharing our content and telling others what we believe and what we hope for this community and this nation.
We are human and we are fallible; we have already made mistakes and we will make more. Please help us. Let us know if we’ve shared misinformation, if we’re overlooking an issue, or if there’s something YOU care about that you’d like help amplifying, even if it’s outside our platform.
We hope to do better each day. Because we love our neighbors, we love democracy, and we want to preserve the beauty of this nation for our children and the generations to come.
The wind is shifting. We’re just getting started.
